Our Services
The Child Study Laboratory at the University of Florida houses both a research lab and a therapy facility, providing the ideal setting for using empirically-supported treatment techniques researched in the lab.
Research
The Child Study Lab conducts research to establish the scientific basis of all aspects of PCIT, including its assessment tools, theoretical underpinnings, therapeutic techniques, and treatment outcome, generalization, and maintenance. Research studies are conducted by undergraduate honors students, masters students, and doctoral students in collaboration with faculty at the University of Florida.
Service Provision
The PCIT therapy playroom is equipped with an adjacent observation area and observational mirror through which therapist coaching and observer videotaping occur. Therapy is conducted by co-therapy teams, who are graduate students in clinical psychology with masters degrees who have been trained in general psychotherapy with adults, children, and families and also trained in advanced PCIT skills including interaction coding, active coaching techniques, and process skills. All therapists participate in weekly group supervision meetings with Drs. Eyberg and Boggs.
